With a growing product line and distinct pro and consumer audiences, Olaplex sought out Domaine for a digital transformation that would springboard future growth. The result is a reimagined Shopify site that brings clarity to the brand’s dual offerings while improving usability and performance. The new site supports the brand’s expansion while doubling down on customer education around science-backed hair health.
A refreshed brand expression
Olaplex was undergoing a rebrand as Domaine worked on the new site, and the teams collaborated closely to ensure it reflected the refreshed brand identity. From an updated content strategy to the layout and interaction design, each piece of the site was constructed to better express Olaplex’s science-first positioning. Scalable content and design systems were also crafted to support the brand’s ongoing evolution.
Creating an educational shopping experience
As a leader in hair health science, Olaplex’s site needed to merge content with commerce and provide shoppers with information about the science behind the products. To achieve this, Domaine made the hair health page the central hub for brand storytelling, and incorporated product information across several site pages. Before and after images, video content, and a redesigned blog make for a more immersive, educational experience.
Improved personalization and UX
Domaine integrated product and content search to create a more unified discovery experience. When shoppers search for a term, they'll see both products and educational content such as blog articles and guides in one place. This approach allows Olaplex customers to browse and learn from the same place.
Unified management of pro and consumer sites
With both consumer and professional online storefronts, it was important for Domaine to design each as unique experiences while also making it possible to manage both from the same backend. A newly unified admin system allows the Olaplex team to toggle between the pro and consumer sites, while different navigation and merchandising rules match the needs of the distinct client bases.
Customized tech solutions
Domaine built several custom solutions to meet Olaplex’s unique needs, including an API between Builder.io and Shopify for their secondary informational site and flexible, reusable design elements. The API allows for simplified management of course content for their professional user base. Meanwhile, product and collection templates for both pro and consumer sites make for simplified page setup and provide flexibility in merchandising and marketing.
