Subscription-first experience built for scale and storytelling
David Protein partnered with Domaine to transform their existing Shopify store into a flexible, visually expressive experience that could support rapid growth. Their previous site was difficult to update, relied heavily on manual workflows, and made simple navigation changes dependent on code. With an evolved brand identity, they needed a partner who could rebuild strategically. Domaine delivered a complete redesign and rebuild centered on performance, editorial storytelling, advanced product education, and deeply integrated subscription and business-to-business (B2B) flows.
A more expressive brand brought to life through immersive, motion-driven design
David Protein recently expanded their brand, and our design team helped evolve it into a fully defined digital identity. The updated aesthetic leans into darker tones inspired by the brand’s classical statue motif, creating strong contrast and a premium feel. Motion plays a major role in the new site. We introduced smooth scrolling effects, interactive bar flavor reveals, and a visualization that highlights what makes their macros stand out. Product comparison charts were designed to ensure accuracy, clarity, and seamless performance. User generated content (UGC) is a major part of their marketing strategy, so Domaine also built a custom shoppable UGC module that turns social proof into an interactive discovery tool.
A flexible, subscription-forward user experience
A key goal was to prioritize subscription adoption without complicating the purchase flow. Domaine redesigned the product detail page (PDP) and cart so customers can add subscription cadence options at key moments and convert their entire cart into a subscription if desired. A custom-built bundle builder gives customers a clear way to mix products, with built-in support for different pricing structures for DTC and B2B customers. We also implemented several buy-X-get-Y promotion scenarios, ensuring they work correctly for both standard purchases and custom bundles.
A scalable Shopify architecture to support growth and market expansion
We restructured the theme around metafields and modular content so the David Protein team can manage site navigation, product data, and content independently and with flexibility. The new architecture includes a streamlined move to Shopify’s new customer accounts, Storefront Curator for customizable portals, and Shopify Markets to support their Canadian expansion with region-specific content.
A conversion-ready B2B experience
On the business-to-business (B2B) side, we configured a unique store experience for logged-in customers, including B2B-specific product visibility, pricing, and discounting. We also rebuilt the B2B registration flow using Hydrix Forms, introducing automated filtering, instant account setup, and the ability to capture provisional orders immediately after application submission. This allows the brand to capitalize on high-intent moments while applications are still under review.
Results
By redesigning and rebuilding David Protein’s Shopify storefront, Domaine created a digital foundation that supports better storytelling, smoother operations, stronger subscription performance, and improved B2B operations. The brand now has a flexible design system, immersive motion language, and structured content architecture that bring the product story to life while giving the internal team full control.
"We needed a website that reflected our brand’s premium feel and commitment to excellence, supported by admin-side workflows flexible enough for scale. Domaine delivered a polished, high-performing experience that showcases our products beautifully, drives conversion, and makes day-to-day updates and content management significantly easier.
