Replatforming to a more manageable headless experience
Hawthorne was struggling to manage its website using a headless content management system (CMS). They engaged Domaine for a complete replatform from Wordpress to Storyblok and from WooCommerce to Shopify, featuring a components-based content architecture and resulting in a more manageable headless experience.
Domaine took a design-agnostic approach to rebuilding the Hawthorne website, structuring components to be flexible for future redesigns. With the site eventually transitioning to Hawthorne’s in-house team, we focused on organizing and simplifying the code, making changes clear and traceable. The rebuild also significantly improved site speed, an impressive achievement for a headless site.
The Domaine team migrated Hawthorne from WordPress to Storyblok headless CMS, introducing dynamic blocks and reusable content formats for enhanced flexibility and interactivity across product pages. Real-time content previews in the CMS make adjustments intuitive for non-developers, improving site maintainability. The dynamic blocks can be easily reused across PLPs and PDPs, enabling faster, more efficient content rollouts.
Hawthorne was replatformed from WooCommerce to Shopify by Domaine. Collaborating with logistics provider Rubyhas, we ensured smooth data communication during the transition, particularly for bundle purchases. Previously, bundles were added as individual items to the cart, but Domaine’s restructuring allowed them to exist under single SKUs, improving the checkout flow and simplifying the customer journey.
