Escaping platform complexity to refocus on growth

Hunter Douglas partnered with Domaine to migrate Blinds2go, Tuiss, and SelectBlinds from VTEX to Shopify, replacing a heavily customized ecosystem that made content updates difficult and slowed innovation. The challenge was proving that Shopify could support highly complex, made-to-measure products with dynamic pricing logic unique to each product, while creating a scalable foundation that could unify multiple brands and markets under a single architecture.

Validating Shopify for Complex Custom Pricing

Rather than following a standard discovery process, Domaine tailored a three-day onsite workshop around the project's biggest unknowns: pricing calculations and product configuration. Together, the teams launched Tuiss Denmark as a proof of concept, validating that Shopify could seamlessly integrate with Hunter Douglas’ proprietary pricing engine and support the complexity of made-to-measure commerce before rolling the solution out to larger markets.

Creating a Single Theme for a Multi-Brand Future

To support long-term growth, Domaine developed a highly configurable Shopify theme that allows multiple brands to operate from a single codebase while maintaining unique merchandising, content, and customer experiences. This unified architecture reduces maintenance, accelerates feature releases, and gives Hunter Douglas a scalable foundation that can be leveraged across brands and regions.

Engineering Custom Commerce for Made-to-Measure Products

Domaine integrated Shopify with Hunter Douglas’ custom pricing engine, enabling real-time price calculations based on unique product configurations rather than traditional variants. Using Shopify metafields, cart transformations, checkout validation, and advanced product configuration logic, the team created a seamless customer experience that makes highly complex purchasing decisions feel simple while ensuring pricing accuracy from product page through checkout.

Empowering Customer Service Through Custom Operational Tools

To support custom-made products after purchase, Domaine built a custom Shopify and Zendesk integration that allows customer service teams to edit orders, process refunds, and manage remakes directly within their workflow. These operational tools simplify complex support processes while giving agents access to the detailed product configuration data required to serve customers effectively.

By migrating Hunter Douglas brands from VTEX to Shopify, Domaine delivered a flexible multi-brand architecture capable of supporting one of the most complex product catalogs in ecommerce. Starting with a successful proof-of-concept launch for Tuiss Denmark, the business now has a validated Shopify foundation that can scale across markets while simplifying content management, reducing technical complexity, and accelerating future growth.
